Daily Tip- Things to Remember When You Feel Lost and Alone

“Being alone never felt right.  Sometimes it felt good, but it never felt right.”
―Charles Bukowski
“This morning I felt lost and alone as I was driving home after a brutal shakeup with my closest friend.  I turned on Spotify on my pad, hit the TOP 100 HITS and hit play; it was Michael Jackson song ‘You Are Not Alone’ was playing.  A few seconds later, at the exact moment the chorus began, I passed a huge billboard sign with big black letters that read, ‘YOU ARE NOT ALONE!’”
That’s the opening paragraph of an email I received today from a long time friend Mma.  It made me smile because I love when life delivers seemingly coincidental, positive messages like that, right when we need them most. The whole issue got me thinking..
Why do people have to feel this way?  What’s the point of it all?  Millions of people in this world, all of them craving connection, and looking for specific experiences and people to satisfy them, yet inadvertently isolating themselves in the process.  Why?  Was the planet put here just to nourish our loneliness?

Daily Tip- 17 Drug-Free Ways to Stay Awake

I have always had to stay awake for different reasons- first so I can play games while my parents slept; crazy!!. Secondly, I can only read at night then thirdly, God recognized my ability to keep vigil and the first job he gave me was Network Monitoring- Night shift, all week and no blinking; that was the height of it all. I would say I became a master of the night "not a witch oo"
Staying awake is easy… 5 shots of dark coffee and 2 lines of cocaine is all you need.  You’ll certainly be wide awake and wired, but you may also die from a heart attack a few hours later.  In all seriousness, conquering drowsiness before it overwhelms your mind can be quite a challenge without the help of drugs.

So the big question is:  What are some healthy, drug-free ways to stay awake when you must?  Let’s take a look at My 17 possibilities.

Crank Up the AC – Warm, stuffy environments accelerate mental fatigue.  If you need to stay awake in a lecture hall or meeting room or office, find an open seat under an AC vent but thats not all.

Cold Water – Splash some on your face and the pulse area of your wrists.  Drinking an ice-cold glass of water can also help to wake you up, I said water not beer, and if you drink enough of it you’ll be up on your feet using the restroom every 30 minutes as well.

Fasting at Mealtime – The human body expends a great deal of energy during the digestion process.  This can create a great deal of fatigue when you are trying to stay awake.  Fasting is a great way to avoid this natural fatigue.  As long as you are drinking enough water, fasting for a meal or two is also a healthy way to detoxify your cells and rejuvenate organs, if you must eat, eat more veggie and less carbo and meat.

Light Exercise Breaks – Take a break and take a walk or do a couple jumping jacks to get your blood moving.  Even the slightest bit of exercise like push-up or jumping up and down can act as a healthy way to energize your mind and body.

Chew Sugar-Free Peppermint Gum – It won’t rot your teeth and it will generate just enough physical activity to keep you awake.  Strong peppermint flavors seem to work best for me… there’s just something about that refreshing minty taste.

Write – The idea is to keep your mind busy.  If you are attending a lecture or business meeting, write down everything that is said.  If you are simply trying to stay awake, create a detailed to-do list for the week or plan out your perfect weekend getaway.

A Good Laugh – Watch a funny video clip or read your favorite comic strip.  A good chuckle will stimulate your mind and help you to stay awake a little while longer. There are tons of then to watch on youtube, don't forget yourself doing that though, I did once and it cost me greatly.

Inspirational and Motivational Material – Sometimes all you need is a little pep talk.  Watch a video clip that inspires you.

Music – If it’s not too much of a distraction, listening to fast beat music can be a great way to keep your mind awake. Never attempt blues- NEVER.

Tickle the Top of Your Mouth Cavity – Obviously, you’ll want to do this with your tongue.  Rub your tongue against the top front area of your mouth cavity.  It feels a little weird, but it does give you a quick, irritating nerve jolt that can actually help to keep you awake.

Turn On All the Lights – Darkness promotes sleepiness.  Turn on every light in the room.

Hangout with a Friend – It’s so much easier to stay awake when you have someone else to interact with. Wake a friend on phone if you have to- Night cals are either very cheap or free.

Play Games – First-person shooters, fast paced driving games, or online RPGs like the great World of Warcraft are sure to keep you wide awake.

Go Outdoors – Getting some fresh air outdoors is always a good way to rouse your senses.

Pull Down on Your Earlobes – This may sound strange, but pulling down on your earlobes can help you stay awake and alert when you’re feeling drowsy.  Just try it.

Nutritious Low Carb Snacks – Low carb fruits such as raspberries, apples, oranges, and grapefruits are great energy boosters.  Heaping scoops of ice cream on a few small crackers is another goodie.  Stay away from meats, breads and dairy products.

Get Enough Sleep When You Can – This one should be obvious.  The best way to stay awake is to be well rested.  If you get enough sleep on a regular basis it will be much easier for you to stay awake or pull an all-nighter when you absolutely must.

Feel free to add yours on the comment zone so we learn from you- Thanks.

Daily Tip- What to do if you get burned?

99% of people would have at one point or another, been burned by something hot coming in contact with their skin leaving an unforgivable mark and pain. Many people don't know what to do and often, this leads to them dealing with the pain and eventually getting over it. If you're a person like that, luckily you're here:

If you get burned by something hot like, oil, metal or fire and many of the similar sorts of things, you should immediately run to a tap and pour cold water over the affected area. You should leave the affected burned area under the water for a minimum of 15 minutes and maximum of 30 depending on how serious the burn is. Sounds like a long time, I know, but in reality this is what you need to do in order to prevent long-term pain and it also helps significantly numb the area so you don't feel much pain at all, if any.

Daily Tip- Reasons Why You Will Never Become Rich

Most people do not equate wealth with a mansion or a big yacht. In fact, just 7% of people surveyed associate wealth with material possessions like cars, houses and boats. Rather, to many, being rich means having just enough to not worry about the next payday – that’s according to 33% of those questioned. An additional 26% define being wealthy, or rich, as having more than enough money to sack their Boss. Still, few people place an actual dollar amount on what it means to be wealthy. Only 17% felt that being rich means having at least $500,000 or like 5 million Naira, and 11% stated a six-figure yearly income would make them feel rich. Yet most people who are rich don’t even consider themselves rich. Maybe it’s because being ‘rich’ or ‘wealthy’ has very little to do with material possessions, and more to do with how people feel about themselves. Nonetheless, according to financial experts you will never be rich if you are defined by anything on the following list:

  1. Overspending- If you have a ferocious appetite for spending beyond your means, you’re not alone, I know how it is because I have been they before. Blowing all your money each month is not a realistic pathway to wealth. Start tracking where your money goes each month, check where you can cut back, and create a ‘realistic’ budget that allows you to pay your bills and invest in a retirement account or Super savings account.
