Husband In Court For Killing Wife Over Bush Meat

A 30-year-old man, Ambrose Anthony, yesterday appeared before a Jalingo chief magistrates’ court for allegedly killing his wife, Helen, after a disagreement over bush meat.
The accused from Yorro area in Taraba State was charged with culpable homicide in line with Section 221 of the Penal Code.
Prosecutor Mela Joseph said the incident occurred on April 7.
Joseph told the court that the accused hit his wife’s abdomen with firewood over her alleged failure to account for the bush meat he bought from a village market.
He said the injuries sustained by Helen led to her death while on admission at the General Hospital, Zing.
He pleaded with the court to adjourn the case to enable the police conclude investigation on the case.
No plea was taken.
The magistrate, Victoria Barnabas, adjourned the case till May 20 and remanded the accused in prison custody.
