Its never like this in other movie industries where the stars are hot cakes in the marriage market.
To the issue at hand, beautiful Rita in a recent feature on Punchng said she will never go into music, I believe her for now just like we believed Jonathan when he said he wont run for second tenure.. Here are the excepts of the reports..
When Rita Dominic featured in Darey Art-Alade’s song, many believed that the fair-skinned actress might be showing signs of delving into music like some of her colleagues did in the past.
However, she told Saturday Beats that she had no intention of going into music. She said that she had been tempted in the past but refused to venture into singing.
She said, “I would not delve into music. If I had wanted, I would have gone into music a very long time ago. I am just an actress. I have been in this industry for about 16 years. I was tempted at a point when actors and actresses went into music about 10 years ago. I was approached then and I said no. If I did not do it then, why would I do it now?”
Dominic, who is currently working on a new movie, Rose Garden, said that the roles she plays in movies are not to make a statement but to stretch herself as an actress. The star actress played the role of ‘Clara’, a difficult receptionist in her movie, The Meeting. Also she plays the role of a psychotic lady, Nicky, who wrecks her friend’s home in the new movie she is currently working on.
“There comes a time in a person’s career when one wants to take on more challenging roles and step outside the box. People that have been following my career would know that. I was not trying to prove a point; I just wanted to do something that would challenge me and at the same time tell a story Nigerians can relate to. I want to stretch myself as an actress, I have done everything. I want to step out of my comfort zone and keep stretching myself. When I read the script about Nicky, it was a character I wanted to do. I felt the more difficult the character, the more challenging the role,” Dominic said.
Thinking back on her humble beginning, she told Saturday Beats that the passion she has for her career has been sustaining her as there were times things were difficult when her career was budding.
She advised up and coming actors to concentrate on the job and not the fame or money. Dominic believes that by doing so, every other thing would fall into place.
“One of the challenges I faced while growing in the industry is that we did not have mobile phones. It was very difficult to get auditions. Sometimes you would have to leave from your house to the audition venue only to find out that you were not chosen. To worsen it, your transport fare to the venue might be the last money you had on you. Sometimes, you had to look for money to eat. However, it did not stop any of us because we were passionate about what we were doing. When you are passionate about what you do, your passion would always come through. When the passion comes through, the money would come. If you want to be an entertainer because you want to be popular, it would take away from your craft,” she said.
